Foreign Policy

The U.S has been through multiple obstacles regarding National interest. The nation used foreign policy’s to attain rules and regulations, these actions were meant to protect and achieve peace throughout the nations. Two foreign policy actions of the U.S., were the marshall plan and the open door policy.

The Marshall Plan was one way to protect the U.S national interest. The Marshall plan was made to make sure Europe wouldn't be influenced by communism. The Marshall plan helped the U.S give aid to Europe economically, due to the fact of Europe's poor condition after World War II. During World War II Europe's factories were bombed and destroyed which made Europe weak in production. After World War II the U.S and the Soviet Union began to lose trust, also the Soviets supported the idea of communism which was a form of dictatorship and also the idea of everybody being equal economically, politically, and socially.for example no matter how hard someone works they would still get the same pay as the other guy who did less. The U.S did not like the idea of communism neither did they believe it should be spread to the west. Basically the Marshall Plan was mainly made to stop the spread of communism and keep Europe as allies for trading purposes and also war. This plan definitely protected the national interest of America.

One other act that was made purposely to protect America's interest was the Open Door Policy. The open Door Policy is a term in foreign affairs, initially used to refer to the U.S policy in the late 19th century and the early 20th century, as enunciated in Secretary of State John Hay's Open Door Note, dated September 6, 1899 and dispatched to the major European powers. The policy proposed to keep China open to trade with all countries on an equal basis, keeping any one power from total control of the country, and calling upon all powers, within their influences, to refrain from interfering with any treaty port or any vested interest, to permit Chinese authorities to collect tariffs on an equal basis, and to show no favors to their own nationals in the matter of harbor dues or railroad charges.
Throughout the history of the U.S foreign policy was brought upon us to protect the nation's interest, and used Foreign policy in order to achieve a certain goal, and bring success into the nation. Important foreign policies were The Marshall Plan and the Open Door Policy these actions protected America's interest in different ways.

The foreign policies of a nation determine how they interact with other nations. There have been many foreign policies created one of them being The Marshall Plan. protecting what the nation wants has been a huge priority in United States history. In order to achieve that goal the U.S has taken military and economic foreign policy actions. For Example Treaty of Versailles, Woodrow Wilson’s 14 points.
Woodrow Wilson’s 14 points were created to suggest and initiate peace for the entire world. There were 14 points that were created as a result. The points caused harmony because they were selected carefully to make sure no state was getting special treatment. League of Nations had to vote whether the states would all be independent. It was denied and created as one of the points. It turned out to be one of the most important points. All this was occurring after the war and negotiations were starting to start world peace.
The Marshall Plan was a program used to help Europe through its economic crash after the end of World War II. The United States gave approximately $17 billion to aid them. In current currency that would be about $120 billion. The Marshall plan was also used to stop communism from obtaining power over countries in which were going through war aftermath. Sadly the program ended in 1951 due to the fact that the United States became involved in the Korean conflict. Although the Marshall Plan did help boost the economy of Europe as the program was meant to do, it could not completely stop communism from taking over some countries
