Unit Description
European colonists in North America faced a number of challenges to establishing permanent settlements. From conflicts with Native Americans, to developing a sustainable economy to creating structures of governance, the original 13 British colonies developed varying solutions, at times leading to vast regional differences. 


Unit Essential Questions
  • What was the impact of European colonization to the Indigenous peoples of the North American continent?
  • Which precedents in political thought and systems from England influenced the development of colonial political structures? 
  • What factors contributed to the development of regional differences between the British colonies in North America / USA?
