The textile industry, in particular, was transformed by industrialization. Before mechanization and factories, textiles were made mainly in people’s homes (giving rise to the term cottage industry), with merchants often providing the raw materials and basic equipment, and then picking up the finished product. Workers set their own schedules under this system, which proved difficult for merchants to regulate and resulted in numerous inefficiencies.

The Industrial Revolution was a dramatic change in the nature of production in which machines replaced tools, steam and other energy sources replaced human or animal power, and skilled workers were replaced with mostly unskilled workers. The Industrial Revolution resulted in work that had been performed in the home by family members, such as spinning yarn, being performed with the help of large powerful machines in factories, such as the early textile mill. The Industrial Revolution permitted trends begun in the domestication revolution and agricultural revolution to continue.

The railroads owners charged the small farmers higher money than the large corporate famers because the small farmers could not make as much money as the big farmers so the small farmers protested against the rail road company until the government saw it so the government passed a law called Interstate Commerce Act so that all farmers should have the same price. So the railroads company was unhappy with the law pass by the government so the railroads company ignore the law and still sold the small farmers the same price as they was already.

During the 19th century the United States experienced remarkable industrial growth. This industrial growth resulted in many changes in American life. Two examples of significant changes in American life that resulted from industrial growth were the growth of the car industry and the growth of monopolies.
Industrialization in the 19th century changed our nation. We became a modern, faster paced society with modern technologies. Women joined the work force and helped develop our nation. Cities grew and every aspect of American society experienced change in either a positive or negative way.
The stable political situation also proved attractive to the near 20 million immigrants that came to the United States during the period. Many of these immigrants went to work in industrial jobs, providing the labor needed for large-scale industrialization. These people came in search of economic opportunity, looking for the “American Dream.” Some were fleeing political or religious persecution, while others sought more economic opportunity. From 1865 to 1915, approximately 25 million immigrants entered the United States. Most of the immigrants came from eastern and southern Europe, with the largest group coming from Italy. Many did not speak English. Most were illiterate, poor, and either Jewish or Catholic. These people seemed very different from the German, British, and Irish immigrants who had flooded in the country in the “old immigration” of the 1840s. They often faced discrimination and segregation in the United States.

Most immigrants settled in large cities and went to work in factories, having a big impact on industrialization. Industry now had an abundant labor supply to exploit. These millions of new Americans played a vital role in the rapid industrialization experienced in the United States. The Industrial Revolution in the US helped to attract many more immigrants to the country. Immigrants tended to leave their home countries because they hoped that there would be more economic opportunity in the US. The fact that there was more opportunity in the US was due largely to industrialization. (draft beginning )

One of the major changes in American Life due to the industrialization was Urbanization. Urbanization began a little after the industrialization began. When the industrialization started basically a lot of factories were being built and the companies needed workers. There were immigrants in look of a new establishment and work place, so due to the fact that workers were needed, urbanization began to spread. Urbanization affected the American Life because most of the native people who actually lived in America were being out numbered by the number of immigrants who were willing to work for a lower pay. So many immigrants were in search of jobs that they were willing to settle into poor living conditions like over crowded Tenement buildings. The native people who actually lived in America before the immigrants began to settle in started to get fed up with these things they saw and they later convinced the government to limit the entrance of the Immigrants to America which then resulted in the National Origins act in 1924 that passed a discriminatory immigration law that restricted the immigration of Southern and Eastern Europeans and practically excluded Asians and other nonwhites from entry into the United States. Also the natives convinced the gov to the point that another law was passed called the Chinese Exclusion Act that was a United States federal law signed by President Chester A. Arthur on May 6, 1882. This law was

The creation of railroad impacted the U.S by moving goods and products easily throughout the country. But because of the enormous growth of monopolies, it led to many people become enraged and upset with the high market prices. Which the government felt that they needed to regulate the big business practices, by creating the interstate commerce commission and Sherman antitrust.

industrial growth was the rise of big business and the urbanization.

New machines and technologies helped businesses grow. Andrew Carnegie used a new invention to start his steel company. John D. Rockefeller started his Standard Oil Company. His company became a corporation. It bought small companies. This got rid of competition. Standard Oil became a monopoly. It owned 90 percent of America’s oil. No competition meant consumers had fewer choices. Monopolies could provide poor service or charge higher prices. After making large fortunes, Carnegie and Rockefeller gave millions of dollars to schools, libraries, churches, and hospitals.

The 19th century was a time of tremendous change. Industrialization was growing rapidly therefore effecting American life drastically. Not only did this growing industrialization change the individual lives of Americans but it affected the economy as a whole as well as the geographic distribution of the population. Two major changes were the growth of cities as well as increased immigration. These changes has shaped American life and formed the basis of America today.
A major change caused by 19th century industrialization was the growth of cities. Industrialization led to the building of lamp factories where people could earn little money but be considered independent. These factory products may have boosted the economy but they also caused a massive population shift and migration. Young farm girls who chose not to get married and have a hard life working on the farm moved to the cities where they could own there own living by working in a large factory. Anyone who worked in a factory was required to work extremely long hours and because of that they chose to live in the city.

The United States went through an enormous industrial growth during the 19th century. Many American lives were impacted by the industrial revolution. The industrial revolution was between (1760-1840), which was the transition to new manufacturing processes. Some causes impacted Americans lives were due to the growth of monopolies, and the increased of immigration.

Monopoly is a company that eliminates other competition, it becomes the only company that has or produces a certain item. Monopolies became one of the greatest factors for the Industrial Era. Social Darwinism adapted to Charles Darwin theory of "Survival of the fittest" into the monopoly world. What this theory means is that the strongest, healthiest and wealthiest companies should over power small companies. The era of Big Business began when entrepreneurs in search of profits consolidated their businesses into massive corporations, which were so large that they could force out competition and gain control of a market. Monopolies impacted the United States in many ways. One of it was by Andrew Carnegie who created railroads and steel. But because of the enormous growth of monopolies, it led to many people become enraged and upset with the high market prices. The U.S. government felt that they needed to regulate the big business practices, by creating the interstate commerce commission and Sherman antitrust.

Immigration increased throughout the United States because, factories created an intense need for labor, convincing people in rural areas to move to the city, and drawing immigrants from Europe to the United States. More than ten million immigrants came to the U.S. to find work and start a new life for themselves and their family. Many Chinese immigrants were lured by the prospect of earning money by working on the expanding western railroad system, many Chinese immigrants settled in California. On the other hand many immigrants, found life in America to be very difficult. Often poor, immigrants lived in dirty, crowded conditions and worked unskilled jobs in potentially dangerous factories. More than 500,000 injuries to workers were reported each year in the 1880s and 1890s. Immigrants, especially “new” immigrants, also faced extreme discrimination in the workplace from native workers who resented the immigrants’ willingness to accept lower wages and work in worse conditions. In the presidential election of 1880, both major party platforms included anti-immigration measures, and in 1882 Congress passed the Chinese Exclusion Act, placing a ten-year ban on Chinese immigration.

To conclude, the United States went through an enormous industrial growth during the Industrial Era of 19th century. Many impacts of the industrial era was increase growth of monopolies, and increased immigration.
