The number of jobs in the United States increased due to industrial growth. The industrial revolution caused more people to get in to the U.S. from outside the United States. This was because the industrial revolution created more factory jobs and demanded for more and cheap labor. With that said people from other countries would come into the U.S. in search of jobs and money. The number of immigrants coming in to the country increased as the industrial growth continued. Immigrants came in search of jobs and a better life. This was greatly supported by industrialist because it made them a profit. Immigrants were willing to take cheap paying jobs just so they could get by and have a better life Later on during the industrial growth around the late 1800s and early 1900s heavy anti-immigration laws were passed to limit the amount of immigrants coming to the country. This was due to nativist claiming that immigrants were stealing American jobs.

Urbanization was also a major change to American society due to industrial growth. Urbanization is when mass population of a city occurs. With that said the cities of the United States especially in the north became over populated and led to overcrowded cities and house. This led to creation of tenement housing for poor families in the city. Because of such conditions muckrakers such as Jacob Riis exposed these living conditions and caused change in cities.

Jacob Riis was a photographer and journalist who helped impoverished New Yorkers by writing the book How The Other Half Lives, which showed the government and upper class Americans what life was like for the working class. These changes would create better living conditions

All in all industrial growth made great impacts on American life that some have lasted in bigger changes. Immigration, number of jobs, and the rate of urbanization are all just few examples in which were results of industrial growth.

Business and industrialization centered on the cities. The ever increasing number of factories created an intense need for labor, convincing people in rural areas to move to the city, and drawing immigrants from Europe to the United States. As a result, the United States transformed from an agrarian to an urban nation, and the demographics of the country shifted dramatically.

Immigration arrived mainly from northern and western Europe, as they had before the civil war. The largest groups came from England, Ireland, Germany, and Scandinavia. The industrial revolution is associated with a major technological change in a manufacturing which substituted the work of skilled artisans who crafted the entire product with factories.
